Schneider Electric SE is a French[4][5][6] multinational company that specializes in digital automation and energy management.[7][8] It addresses homes,[9] buildings,[10] data centers,[11] infrastructure and industries,[12] by combining energy technologies, real-time automation, software, and services.[13]

Schneider Electric is a Fortune Global 500 company, publicly traded on the Euronext Exchange, and is a component of the Euro Stoxx 50 stock market index.[14] In FY2020, the company posted revenues of €25.2 billion.[15]

Schneider Electric is the parent company of Square D, APC, and others. It is also a research company.[16]

Head office[edit]

Schneider Electric has had its head office in Rueil-Malmaison, France since 2000.[17] This headquarters previously housed Schneider subsidiary Télémécanique[18] while the parent company occupied a site in Boulogne-Billancourt.[19]

The company uses an international operations model[20] wherein its key personnel and large numbers of its staff are spread across main offices in Reuil-Malmaison,[21] Hong Kong,[22] Noida,[23] and Boston.[24]

History[edit]

1836-1963[edit]

In 1836, brothers Adolphe and Joseph-Eugene Schneider took over an abandoned foundry in Le Creusot, France. Two years later, they created Schneider & Cie, focusing primarily on the steel industry. Schneider & Cie rapidly grew, specializing in the production of heavy machinery and transportation equipment.[25] In 1871, following France’s defeat in the Franco-Prussian War, it developed a main activity of manufacturing weapons with the encouragement of the government in Paris. It eventually became a complex group with industrial activities in many sites in France and abroad, including in Russia before 1917 and in Czechoslovakia between 1919 and 1938.[26]

1963-1999[edit]

In the 1960s, Schneider was absorbed by Belgium’s Empain group, which in 1969 merged it with its own corporate structures to form Empain-Schneider. In 1980–1981, the Empain family sold its controlling stake to Paribas, which was in turn nationalized in 1982. In the 1980s and 1990s, the company, by then again named Schneider, divested from steel and shipbuilding and focused mainly on electricity through strategic acquisitions. These included Télémécanique in 1988,[27] Square D in 1991,[28] and Merlin Gerin [fr] in 1992.[29]

Timeline since 1999[edit]

1999: Schneider Group acquired Lexel. In May 1999, the Schneider Group was renamed Schneider Electric.[30]

The company became an ITER supplier.

2014: Schneider Electric advertised a cooperation with German power supplier RWE.[31]

2016: Schneider acquired the British retail brand Tower Electric.[32]

2017: Schneider Electric took control of AVEVA Group PLC,[33] a provider of engineering and industrial software based in the UK.[34]

2018: Schneider Electric acquired Larsen & Toubro’s Electrical & Automation (E&A) business in a cash deal for ₹140 billion (US$1.8 billion) (excluding the marine business and Servowatch Ltd., then currently a part of L&T E&A business).[35]

2019: Schneider launched Schneider Electric Exchange.[36]

2020: In February 2020, Schneider made a €1.4 billion takeover bid for German company RIB Software,[37] closing the deal in July 2020.[38] In September 2020, Schneider Electric launched a new equipment that would help electricity distribution companies in Nigeria to fix grid faults.[39]
Besides, in September 2020, an alliance between Schneider Electric and Green Energy Options was made to develop the concept of ‘net-zero homes’ in the United Kingdom.[40] Also, in 2020, Schneider Electric acquired ProLeiT AG, a supplier of industrial control and MES software.[41]

2021: In January 2021, Schneider Electric acquired DC Systems to enable customers evolve ‘simplicity and resiliency’ for pertinent uses and establish microgrids in certain ‘unreliable public grid environments’.[41]

2022: In May 2022, Schneider Electric revealed the EcoStructure™ Plant Advisor Platform which is devoted for ‘the cement and mining industry’.[41] Later, in September 2022, Schneider Electric hit over 6-year high and surged 12% in a weak market.[42]

2023: In January 2023, Shneider Electric formed a partnership with BitSight to implement a ‘global Operational Technology (OT) Risk Identification and Threat Intelligence capability’[43][44].

Aveva acquisition[edit]

Schneider made its first attempt to combine with Aveva in 2015.[45] Then, in 2017, Schneider managed to combine with the British Group, Aveva.[46] Indeed, it was agreed that Schneider would take 60% stake in an enlarged industrial software business with Aveva.[46] In 2022, Schneider took over the remaining shares of the British company.[45] Nevertheless, Aveva, whose activities perfectly fit those of Schneider, would still exist as an independent entity.[47]

Organizational structure and offer[edit]

Since 2019, Schneider Electric has been operating business units: Energy Management, Industrial Automation, and Services.[98]

Energy Management

The Energy Management business provides products for the management of energy in medium voltage and grid automation, low voltage and building automation, secure power and cooling applications.

Services

The Services business includes three divisions: Global Field Services, Energy and Sustainability Services, and Smart grid Services.[99]

EcoStruxure[edit]

In 2016 Schneider Electric launched the next generation of EcoStruxure – an IoT-enabled architecture.[100] The EcoStruxure platform uses Microsoft Azure.

In April 2019, the company launched Schneider Electric Exchange, an open business platform.[101] In June 2022, Schneider Electric introduced its EcoStruxure Machine Expert Twin, an adaptable digital shadow software solution that aims to handle the machine’s ‘lifecycle’.[102]

Research and development investment[edit]

In its Innovation Summit North America, Schneider Electric expressed its aim to assess emerging technologies, support and subsidize startups through guiding them.[103] In FY2021, Schneider Electric announced that its research and development expenses were around 855 million euros.[104]

Operational technology[edit]

In January 2023, Shneider Electric’s interest to develop the area of Operational Technology was concretized through its partnership with BitSight, a specialist in the field of cybersecurity[43]. In fact, their collaboration seeks to realize a unique ‘global Operational Technology (OT) Risk Identification and Threat Intelligence capability’ that aims to detect the threats to Operational Technology [105] and consolidate ‘industrial security’[43].

Schneider Electric SE is a French[4][5][6] multinational company that specializes in digital automation and energy management.[7][8] It addresses homes,[9] buildings,[10] data centers,[11] infrastructure and industries,[12] by combining energy technologies, real-time automation, software, and services.[13]

Schneider Electric is a Fortune Global 500 company, publicly traded on the Euronext Exchange, and is a component of the Euro Stoxx 50 stock market index.[14] In FY2020, the company posted revenues of €25.2 billion.[15]

Schneider Electric is the parent company of Square D, APC, and others. It is also a research company.[16]

Head office[edit]

Schneider Electric has had its head office in Rueil-Malmaison, France since 2000.[17] This headquarters previously housed Schneider subsidiary Télémécanique[18] while the parent company occupied a site in Boulogne-Billancourt.[19]

The company uses an international operations model[20] wherein its key personnel and large numbers of its staff are spread across main offices in Reuil-Malmaison,[21] Hong Kong,[22] Noida,[23] and Boston.[24]

History[edit]

1836-1963[edit]

In 1836, brothers Adolphe and Joseph-Eugene Schneider took over an abandoned foundry in Le Creusot, France. Two years later, they created Schneider & Cie, focusing primarily on the steel industry. Schneider & Cie rapidly grew, specializing in the production of heavy machinery and transportation equipment.[25] In 1871, following France’s defeat in the Franco-Prussian War, it developed a main activity of manufacturing weapons with the encouragement of the government in Paris. It eventually became a complex group with industrial activities in many sites in France and abroad, including in Russia before 1917 and in Czechoslovakia between 1919 and 1938.[26]

1963-1999[edit]

In the 1960s, Schneider was absorbed by Belgium’s Empain group, which in 1969 merged it with its own corporate structures to form Empain-Schneider. In 1980–1981, the Empain family sold its controlling stake to Paribas, which was in turn nationalized in 1982. In the 1980s and 1990s, the company, by then again named Schneider, divested from steel and shipbuilding and focused mainly on electricity through strategic acquisitions. These included Télémécanique in 1988,[27] Square D in 1991,[28] and Merlin Gerin [fr] in 1992.[29]

Timeline since 1999[edit]

1999: Schneider Group acquired Lexel. In May 1999, the Schneider Group was renamed Schneider Electric.[30]

The company became an ITER supplier.

2014: Schneider Electric advertised a cooperation with German power supplier RWE.[31]

2016: Schneider acquired the British retail brand Tower Electric.[32]

2017: Schneider Electric took control of AVEVA Group PLC,[33] a provider of engineering and industrial software based in the UK.[34]

2018: Schneider Electric acquired Larsen & Toubro’s Electrical & Automation (E&A) business in a cash deal for ₹140 billion (US$1.8 billion) (excluding the marine business and Servowatch Ltd., then currently a part of L&T E&A business).[35]

2019: Schneider launched Schneider Electric Exchange.[36]

2020: In February 2020, Schneider made a €1.4 billion takeover bid for German company RIB Software,[37] closing the deal in July 2020.[38] In September 2020, Schneider Electric launched a new equipment that would help electricity distribution companies in Nigeria to fix grid faults.[39]
Besides, in September 2020, an alliance between Schneider Electric and Green Energy Options was made to develop the concept of ‘net-zero homes’ in the United Kingdom.[40] Also, in 2020, Schneider Electric acquired ProLeiT AG, a supplier of industrial control and MES software.[41]

2021: In January 2021, Schneider Electric acquired DC Systems to enable customers evolve ‘simplicity and resiliency’ for pertinent uses and establish microgrids in certain ‘unreliable public grid environments’.[41]

2022: In May 2022, Schneider Electric revealed the EcoStructure™ Plant Advisor Platform which is devoted for ‘the cement and mining industry’.[41] Later, in September 2022, Schneider Electric hit over 6-year high and surged 12% in a weak market.[42]

2023: In January 2023, Shneider Electric formed a partnership with BitSight to implement a ‘global Operational Technology (OT) Risk Identification and Threat Intelligence capability’[43][44].

Aveva acquisition[edit]

Schneider made its first attempt to combine with Aveva in 2015.[45] Then, in 2017, Schneider managed to combine with the British Group, Aveva.[46] Indeed, it was agreed that Schneider would take 60% stake in an enlarged industrial software business with Aveva.[46] In 2022, Schneider took over the remaining shares of the British company.[45] Nevertheless, Aveva, whose activities perfectly fit those of Schneider, would still exist as an independent entity.[47]

Since 2019, Schneider Electric has been operating business units: Energy Management, Industrial Automation, and Services.[98]

Energy Management

The Energy Management business provides products for the management of energy in medium voltage and grid automation, low voltage and building automation, secure power and cooling applications.

Services

The Services business includes three divisions: Global Field Services, Energy and Sustainability Services, and Smart grid Services.[99]

EcoStruxure[edit]

In 2016 Schneider Electric launched the next generation of EcoStruxure – an IoT-enabled architecture.[100] The EcoStruxure platform uses Microsoft Azure.

In April 2019, the company launched Schneider Electric Exchange, an open business platform.[101] In June 2022, Schneider Electric introduced its EcoStruxure Machine Expert Twin, an adaptable digital shadow software solution that aims to handle the machine’s ‘lifecycle’.[102]

Research and development investment[edit]

In its Innovation Summit North America, Schneider Electric expressed its aim to assess emerging technologies, support and subsidize startups through guiding them.[103] In FY2021, Schneider Electric announced that its research and development expenses were around 855 million euros.[104]

Operational technology[edit]

In January 2023, Shneider Electric’s interest to develop the area of Operational Technology was concretized through its partnership with BitSight, a specialist in the field of cybersecurity[43]. In fact, their collaboration seeks to realize a unique ‘global Operational Technology (OT) Risk Identification and Threat Intelligence capability’ that aims to detect the threats to Operational Technology [105] and consolidate ‘industrial security’[43].

История

Schneider Electric основана братьями Жозефом и Адольфом Шнейдерами в 1836 году путём покупки фирмы «Крезо» (Le Creusot). С момента основания и до конца Второй мировой войны компания в основном занималась выпуском вооружений, как для армии Франции, так и на экспорт. В частности, многие артиллерийские орудия Российской империи были либо сделаны на заводах «Шнейдер», либо построены на собственных предприятиях по лицензии этой фирмы.

Деятельность

В настоящее время компания носит название Schneider Electric, узкая специализация в области вооружений была оставлена в пользу широкого круга решаемых задач по производству электротехнических изделий, электроизмерительных приборов и телемеханики. Ранее фирма также занималась производством электровозов, металлоконструкций, чугуна и стали.

В состав корпорации входят три крупные компании — Merlin Gerin, Square D и Telemecanique.

Компания представлена на российском рынке ЗАО «Шнейдер Электрик». На 2012 год у компании в России имеется три завода — «Шнейдер Электрик Эквипмент Казань (ШЭЭК)» (Казань), «ЭлектроМоноблок (SEZEM)» (Санкт-Петербург) и ЗАО «Потенциал» (Козьмодемьянск).

Первый проект компании в России был реализован в 1974 году на Самарском нефтеперерабатывающем заводе. В 1980-е годы Schneider Electric поставлял электротехническое оборудование для компрессорных станций магистрального экспортного газопровода «Уренгой — Помары — Ужгород».

С 2008 года в Казани действует завод «ШЭЭК». На предприятии работают две линии: одна по сборке модульных ячеек высокого напряжения в металлических корпусах с воздушной изоляцией и стационарными или выкатными элегазовыми коммутационными аппаратами серии SM6, другая — модульных низковольтных силовых щитов высокого уровня безопасности для распределения электроэнергии на токи до 6300 А и управления электродвигателями серии Okken. В 2010 году в Гатчинском районе Ленинградской области, в городе Коммунар открылся новый завод Schneider Electric. Предприятие производит компактные распределительные устройства с элегазовой изоляцией серии RM6. В 2010 году Schneider Electric приобрела 50,00 % акций ЗАО «Самарского завода Электрощит» (город Самара), одного из крупнейших производителей электротехнического оборудования в России, и планирует довести свою долю в капитале предприятия до 100 %[3]. Тогда же, в 2010 году, компания закрыла ранее принадлежавший ей завод «Уралэлектроконтактор» (Оренбургская область) и продала его компании «Уральская электротехника»[4].

Schneider Electric SE is a French[4][5][6] multinational company that specializes in digital automation and energy management.[7][8] It addresses homes,[9] buildings,[10] data centers,[11] infrastructure and industries,[12] by combining energy technologies, real-time automation, software, and services.[13]

Schneider Electric is a Fortune Global 500 company, publicly traded on the Euronext Exchange, and is a component of the Euro Stoxx 50 stock market index.[14] In FY2020, the company posted revenues of €25.2 billion.[15]

Schneider Electric is the parent company of Square D, APC, and others. It is also a research company.[16]

Head office[edit]

Schneider Electric has had its head office in Rueil-Malmaison, France since 2000.[17] This headquarters previously housed Schneider subsidiary Télémécanique[18] while the parent company occupied a site in Boulogne-Billancourt.[19]

The company uses an international operations model[20] wherein its key personnel and large numbers of its staff are spread across main offices in Reuil-Malmaison,[21] Hong Kong,[22] Noida,[23] and Boston.[24]

1836-1963[edit]

In 1836, brothers Adolphe and Joseph-Eugene Schneider took over an abandoned foundry in Le Creusot, France. Two years later, they created Schneider & Cie, focusing primarily on the steel industry. Schneider & Cie rapidly grew, specializing in the production of heavy machinery and transportation equipment.[25] In 1871, following France’s defeat in the Franco-Prussian War, it developed a main activity of manufacturing weapons with the encouragement of the government in Paris. It eventually became a complex group with industrial activities in many sites in France and abroad, including in Russia before 1917 and in Czechoslovakia between 1919 and 1938.[26]

1963-1999[edit]

In the 1960s, Schneider was absorbed by Belgium’s Empain group, which in 1969 merged it with its own corporate structures to form Empain-Schneider. In 1980–1981, the Empain family sold its controlling stake to Paribas, which was in turn nationalized in 1982. In the 1980s and 1990s, the company, by then again named Schneider, divested from steel and shipbuilding and focused mainly on electricity through strategic acquisitions. These included Télémécanique in 1988,[27] Square D in 1991,[28] and Merlin Gerin [fr] in 1992.[29]

Timeline since 1999[edit]

1999: Schneider Group acquired Lexel. In May 1999, the Schneider Group was renamed Schneider Electric.[30]

The company became an ITER supplier.

2014: Schneider Electric advertised a cooperation with German power supplier RWE.[31]

2016: Schneider acquired the British retail brand Tower Electric.[32]

2017: Schneider Electric took control of AVEVA Group PLC,[33] a provider of engineering and industrial software based in the UK.[34]

2018: Schneider Electric acquired Larsen & Toubro’s Electrical & Automation (E&A) business in a cash deal for ₹140 billion (US$1.8 billion) (excluding the marine business and Servowatch Ltd., then currently a part of L&T E&A business).[35]

2019: Schneider launched Schneider Electric Exchange.[36]

2020: In February 2020, Schneider made a €1.4 billion takeover bid for German company RIB Software,[37] closing the deal in July 2020.[38] In September 2020, Schneider Electric launched a new equipment that would help electricity distribution companies in Nigeria to fix grid faults.[39]
Besides, in September 2020, an alliance between Schneider Electric and Green Energy Options was made to develop the concept of ‘net-zero homes’ in the United Kingdom.[40] Also, in 2020, Schneider Electric acquired ProLeiT AG, a supplier of industrial control and MES software.[41]

2021: In January 2021, Schneider Electric acquired DC Systems to enable customers evolve ‘simplicity and resiliency’ for pertinent uses and establish microgrids in certain ‘unreliable public grid environments’.[41]

2022: In May 2022, Schneider Electric revealed the EcoStructure™ Plant Advisor Platform which is devoted for ‘the cement and mining industry’.[41] Later, in September 2022, Schneider Electric hit over 6-year high and surged 12% in a weak market.[42]

2023: In January 2023, Shneider Electric formed a partnership with BitSight to implement a ‘global Operational Technology (OT) Risk Identification and Threat Intelligence capability’[43][44].

Aveva acquisition[edit]

Schneider made its first attempt to combine with Aveva in 2015.[45] Then, in 2017, Schneider managed to combine with the British Group, Aveva.[46] Indeed, it was agreed that Schneider would take 60% stake in an enlarged industrial software business with Aveva.[46] In 2022, Schneider took over the remaining shares of the British company.[45] Nevertheless, Aveva, whose activities perfectly fit those of Schneider, would still exist as an independent entity.[47]

Since 2019, Schneider Electric has been operating business units: Energy Management, Industrial Automation, and Services.[98]

Energy Management

The Energy Management business provides products for the management of energy in medium voltage and grid automation, low voltage and building automation, secure power and cooling applications.

Services

The Services business includes three divisions: Global Field Services, Energy and Sustainability Services, and Smart grid Services.[99]

EcoStruxure[edit]

In 2016 Schneider Electric launched the next generation of EcoStruxure – an IoT-enabled architecture.[100] The EcoStruxure platform uses Microsoft Azure.

In April 2019, the company launched Schneider Electric Exchange, an open business platform.[101] In June 2022, Schneider Electric introduced its EcoStruxure Machine Expert Twin, an adaptable digital shadow software solution that aims to handle the machine’s ‘lifecycle’.[102]

Research and development investment[edit]

In its Innovation Summit North America, Schneider Electric expressed its aim to assess emerging technologies, support and subsidize startups through guiding them.[103] In FY2021, Schneider Electric announced that its research and development expenses were around 855 million euros.[104]

Operational technology[edit]

In January 2023, Shneider Electric’s interest to develop the area of Operational Technology was concretized through its partnership with BitSight, a specialist in the field of cybersecurity[43]. In fact, their collaboration seeks to realize a unique ‘global Operational Technology (OT) Risk Identification and Threat Intelligence capability’ that aims to detect the threats to Operational Technology [105] and consolidate ‘industrial security’[43].

Schneider Electric SE is a French[4][5][6] multinational company that specializes in digital automation and energy management.[7][8] It addresses homes,[9] buildings,[10] data centers,[11] infrastructure and industries,[12] by combining energy technologies, real-time automation, software, and services.[13]

Schneider Electric is a Fortune Global 500 company, publicly traded on the Euronext Exchange, and is a component of the Euro Stoxx 50 stock market index.[14] In FY2020, the company posted revenues of €25.2 billion.[15]

Schneider Electric is the parent company of Square D, APC, and others. It is also a research company.[16]

Head office[edit]

Schneider Electric has had its head office in Rueil-Malmaison, France since 2000.[17] This headquarters previously housed Schneider subsidiary Télémécanique[18] while the parent company occupied a site in Boulogne-Billancourt.[19]

The company uses an international operations model[20] wherein its key personnel and large numbers of its staff are spread across main offices in Reuil-Malmaison,[21] Hong Kong,[22] Noida,[23] and Boston.[24]

1836-1963[edit]

In 1836, brothers Adolphe and Joseph-Eugene Schneider took over an abandoned foundry in Le Creusot, France. Two years later, they created Schneider & Cie, focusing primarily on the steel industry. Schneider & Cie rapidly grew, specializing in the production of heavy machinery and transportation equipment.[25] In 1871, following France’s defeat in the Franco-Prussian War, it developed a main activity of manufacturing weapons with the encouragement of the government in Paris. It eventually became a complex group with industrial activities in many sites in France and abroad, including in Russia before 1917 and in Czechoslovakia between 1919 and 1938.[26]

1963-1999[edit]

In the 1960s, Schneider was absorbed by Belgium’s Empain group, which in 1969 merged it with its own corporate structures to form Empain-Schneider. In 1980–1981, the Empain family sold its controlling stake to Paribas, which was in turn nationalized in 1982. In the 1980s and 1990s, the company, by then again named Schneider, divested from steel and shipbuilding and focused mainly on electricity through strategic acquisitions. These included Télémécanique in 1988,[27] Square D in 1991,[28] and Merlin Gerin [fr] in 1992.[29]

Timeline since 1999[edit]

1999: Schneider Group acquired Lexel. In May 1999, the Schneider Group was renamed Schneider Electric.[30]

The company became an ITER supplier.

2014: Schneider Electric advertised a cooperation with German power supplier RWE.[31]

2016: Schneider acquired the British retail brand Tower Electric.[32]

2017: Schneider Electric took control of AVEVA Group PLC,[33] a provider of engineering and industrial software based in the UK.[34]

2018: Schneider Electric acquired Larsen & Toubro’s Electrical & Automation (E&A) business in a cash deal for ₹140 billion (US$1.8 billion) (excluding the marine business and Servowatch Ltd., then currently a part of L&T E&A business).[35]

2019: Schneider launched Schneider Electric Exchange.[36]

2020: In February 2020, Schneider made a €1.4 billion takeover bid for German company RIB Software,[37] closing the deal in July 2020.[38] In September 2020, Schneider Electric launched a new equipment that would help electricity distribution companies in Nigeria to fix grid faults.[39]
Besides, in September 2020, an alliance between Schneider Electric and Green Energy Options was made to develop the concept of ‘net-zero homes’ in the United Kingdom.[40] Also, in 2020, Schneider Electric acquired ProLeiT AG, a supplier of industrial control and MES software.[41]

2021: In January 2021, Schneider Electric acquired DC Systems to enable customers evolve ‘simplicity and resiliency’ for pertinent uses and establish microgrids in certain ‘unreliable public grid environments’.[41]

2022: In May 2022, Schneider Electric revealed the EcoStructure™ Plant Advisor Platform which is devoted for ‘the cement and mining industry’.[41] Later, in September 2022, Schneider Electric hit over 6-year high and surged 12% in a weak market.[42]

2023: In January 2023, Shneider Electric formed a partnership with BitSight to implement a ‘global Operational Technology (OT) Risk Identification and Threat Intelligence capability’[43][44].

Aveva acquisition[edit]

Schneider made its first attempt to combine with Aveva in 2015.[45] Then, in 2017, Schneider managed to combine with the British Group, Aveva.[46] Indeed, it was agreed that Schneider would take 60% stake in an enlarged industrial software business with Aveva.[46] In 2022, Schneider took over the remaining shares of the British company.[45] Nevertheless, Aveva, whose activities perfectly fit those of Schneider, would still exist as an independent entity.[47]

Since 2019, Schneider Electric has been operating business units: Energy Management, Industrial Automation, and Services.[98]

Energy Management

The Energy Management business provides products for the management of energy in medium voltage and grid automation, low voltage and building automation, secure power and cooling applications.

Services

The Services business includes three divisions: Global Field Services, Energy and Sustainability Services, and Smart grid Services.[99]

EcoStruxure[edit]

In 2016 Schneider Electric launched the next generation of EcoStruxure – an IoT-enabled architecture.[100] The EcoStruxure platform uses Microsoft Azure.

In April 2019, the company launched Schneider Electric Exchange, an open business platform.[101] In June 2022, Schneider Electric introduced its EcoStruxure Machine Expert Twin, an adaptable digital shadow software solution that aims to handle the machine’s ‘lifecycle’.[102]

Research and development investment[edit]

In its Innovation Summit North America, Schneider Electric expressed its aim to assess emerging technologies, support and subsidize startups through guiding them.[103] In FY2021, Schneider Electric announced that its research and development expenses were around 855 million euros.[104]

Operational technology[edit]

In January 2023, Shneider Electric’s interest to develop the area of Operational Technology was concretized through its partnership with BitSight, a specialist in the field of cybersecurity[43]. In fact, their collaboration seeks to realize a unique ‘global Operational Technology (OT) Risk Identification and Threat Intelligence capability’ that aims to detect the threats to Operational Technology [105] and consolidate ‘industrial security’[43].

Основана братьями Эженом и Адольфом[fr] Шнайдер в 1836 году путём покупки фирмы «Крезо» (Le Creusot). С момента основания и до конца Второй мировой войны компания в основном занималась выпуском вооружений, как для армии Франции, так и на экспорт. В частности, многие артиллерийские орудия Российской империи были либо сделаны на заводах «Шнедер», либо построены на собственных предприятиях по лицензии этой фирмы. Также фирма занималась производством электровозов, металлоконструкций, чугуна и стали. На 1929 год «Крезо-Шнейдер» контролировала в Чехословакии фирму Шкода[8].

Первый проект компании в России был реализован в 1974 году на Куйбышевском нефтеперерабатывающем заводе. В 1980-е годы фирма поставляла электротехническое оборудование для компрессорных станций магистрального экспортного газопровода «Уренгой — Помары — Ужгород».

С 2008 года в Казани действовал завод «ШЭЭК». На предприятии работали две линии: одна по сборке модульных ячеек высокого напряжения в металлических корпусах с воздушной изоляцией и стационарными или выкатными элегазовыми коммутационными аппаратами серии SM6, другая — по сборке новой линейки ячеек высокого напряжения Premset. В 2015 компания Schneider Electric перенесла производство электротехнического оборудования из Казани в Екатеринбург.[1] В середине 2017 года завод «Шнайдер электрик Урал» в Екатеринбурге прекратил свою работу.[2]

В 2010 году в городе Коммунар Гатчинского района Ленинградской области открылся завод Schneider Electric по производству компактных распределительных устройств с элегазовой изоляцией серии RM6. В 2010 году корпорация приобрела 50 % акций самарского завода «Электрощит»[10], а в марте 2013 года довела свою долю в капитале предприятия до 100 %[11]. В том же 2010 году компания закрыла ранее принадлежавший ей завод «Уралэлектроконтактор» в Оренбургской области и продала его компании «Уральская электротехника»[12].

В январе 2014 корпорация завершила сделку по приобретению активов завода екатеринбургского филиала ЗАО «Альстом Грид», включая недвижимость и производственное оборудование, преобразовав в завод «Шнейдер Электрик Урал», на котором выпускается электротехническое оборудование для распределения электроэнергии низкого и среднего напряжения[13].

27 апреля 2022 года корпорация объявила о намерении продать свои активы в России локальному руководству[14].
