COVID-19 has been intensely discussed in Mass-media for the last few months. Some people say that it is really dangerous, whereas others are quite skeptical.
I think that COVID-19 is a real danger to society. First of all, COVID-19 works differently compared to previous major viruses. For example, it enters deep into humancells and the immune system notices it too late to fight off successfully. Secondly, the virus has quickly caused a Pandemic, “a world epidemic”, that has not happened with other viruses for overa 100 years. For instance, after only 2 months it is hard to find a country that has not yet been infected with COVID-19.
Moreover, it has already caused a huge economic collapse in a lot of countries.
At the same time, there are people who do not agree with this opinion. They say that the Coronavirus can be cured just like many other previous viral epidemics and Mass Media just creates an unnecessary panic among people.
I do not agree with the statement above. COVID-19 is a much more insidious virus. The number of deaths among elderly people from it, is much higher than for previousmass viral outbreaks.
In conclusion, I would like to say there are opposing views on this issue. At first sight Coronavirus seems to be just another virus, but in actual fact it produces a lot more disasters to already sick people thanprevious flu viruses. Thus, I strongly believe that it should be treated much more seriously and people should follow all the few basic rules of general safety.

На сегодняшний день выявлено более 40 разновидностей таких вирусов. Впервые угрожающий человеку вид удалось выделить в 1965 году. Коронавирусы поражают млекопитающих, а также птиц и земноводных. В 2019 году был выявлен новый особо опасный тип SARS-CoV-2. Название появилось из специфической структуры вируса, оболочка которого «увенчана» характерными шипами, отдаленно похожими на «корону».
Исследования коронавируса нового типа позволили установить, что на 96 % его геном совпадает с геномом возбудителя заболевания, переносчиками которого оказались летучие мыши. Учёные предположили, что мутировав, новый возбудитель попал в организм человека и связался с рецепторами клеток легочного эпителия. Благодаря этому он стал способен проникать в данные клетки и размножаться, вызывая острое респираторное заболевание. Последнее может протекать в легкой форме или бессимптомно, а может вызывать серьезные нарушения дыхания, которые в некоторых случаях заканчиваются летальным исходом.
В Россию возбудитель опасной болезни попал в марте 2020, когда туристы стали активно возвращаться из Европы. Наибольшее количество случаев заражения зарегистрировано в Москве и Московской области.

More than 40 varieties of such viruses have been identified by today. First a new types which endangered a human was elicited in 1965. Coronaviridae affect mammals as well as birds and amphibians. In 2019 a new and especially dangerous SARS-CoV-2 type was found. The name appeared from the specific structure of the virus, the particles are typically decorated with large, club- or petal-shaped surface projections (the «peplomers» or «spikes») which look like a solar corona.
The investigations of the latest type of the coronavirus allowed to determine that 96 % of its genome coincides with the genome of the pathogen, the transmitter of which is a bat. Scientists assumed that having mutated the new virus got to a human body and tied with the receptors of the pulmonic epithelium. Due to this it was able to penetrate these cells and reproduce causing an acute respiratory disease. The latter can proceed clinically silently, and can cause serious breathing trouble, which in some cases result in death.
The dangerous disease originator was brought to Russia in March 2020, when tourists started to return from Europe. Most cases of infection were registered in Moscow and the Moscow region.
As we are writing this essay, The Coronavirus outbreak known as Covid-19 has so far killed over 388,041 people across the globe and infected 6,573,585 (as on June 3, 2020). Although this virus can infect people of all ages, people over 60 years old and those with underlying medical conditions are at higher risk of getting infected. As Corona Pandemic is one the worst pandemics of the decade we have prepared an “Essay on Coronavirus” for students of various standards.
An In-depth Essay on Coronavirus
Global Corona pandemic describes an infectious disease (COVID-19) by a large family of viruses known as the corona. World Health Organization (WHO) and it’s communication with the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) announced the official name for this new virus responsible for the disease is SARS-CoV-2 on 11th February 2020. The full form of this virus is Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus 2.
There are several reports of the origin of this virus but the most accepted report is the following one. The origin of this disease is well fixed at the world-famous Huanan seafood market in Wuhan during late 2019 in which a person was infected with a virus from a mammal; Pangolin. As reported, pangolins were not listed for sale in Wuhan and it is illegal to sell them. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) also says that pangolins are the most illegally traded mammal in the world. One statistical study provides that pangolins are able to develop the characteristics that the newly found virus enables. Later it was reported that a descendent of the virus came into effect with humans and then espoused as it was preceded from human to human.
The disease is continuing its spread across the world. It is noted that possible animal sources of COVID-19 have not yet been confirmed. It can spread only from person to person through small (respiratory) droplets from the nose, mouth or coughing and sneezing. These droplets land on any object or surfaces. Other people can catch COVID-19 by touching those objects or surfaces and then touching their nose, eyes, or mouth. About 212 countries and territories have been reported till. The worst affected countries are- United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Iran, Russia, Spain, Germany, China, etc. Due to COVID-19 about 388,041 people got death out of 6,573,585 confirmed cases and 3,170,532 people were recovered in the entire world. However, positive cases and deaths are quite different in country wise. For ex- out of 1M active cases, 72k people died in the United States. Pakistan faces about 85,264 positive cases and 1,770 deaths etc.
The incubation period means the period between catching the virus and beginning to have symptoms. Most estimates of the incubation period for COVID-19 range from 1 – 14 days. The most common symptoms of Covid-19 are tiredness, fever, dry cough, light aches and pain, nasal congestion, sore throat, and so on. These symptoms are mild and grow gradually in the human body. However, some people get infected but don’t develop any symptoms. Reports say that sometimes people get recover without any special treatment. The most important thing is that only 1 person out of 6 people becomes seriously ill and develops some symptoms due to COVID-19. Older people and those who are under medical treatment like- high blood pressure, cancer, heart disease, etc become a victim very quickly.
To prevent the spread of this disease people should stay aware of the latest information available on the national, state, and local public health authorities. Now, each and every country has succeeded in slowing the spread of the outbreak. People can reduce the chances of being infected by taking some simple precautions. People should regularly wash and clean hands with soap or alcohol-based hand rub. It can kill viruses that may be on hands. People should maintain at list 1meter (3feet) distance. Also, people should avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth. Wear a mask, glass, and hand gloves must be compulsory. People should make sure that they follow good respiratory hygiene and dispose of the used tissue immediately. People should stay home and not go out if not necessary. Always follow the local health authority if someone falls in cough, fever, or breathing problems. People should keep up to date information on the latest COVID-19 hotspot (cities or areas where viruses spreading). If possible avoid traveling. It has the highest chance of being affected. There are also guidelines for a person who has any recent travel history. He/ she must maintain self-isolation or to stay at home and avoid contact with other people. If necessary he/she must consult doctors. Moreover, measures like smoking, wearing multiple masks or used mask, and taking antibiotics are not effective against COVID-19. This can be very harmful.
Now, the risk of catching COVID-19 is still low in some areas. But at the same time, there are some places around the world where the disease is spreading. COVID-19 outbreaks or its spreading can be contained as has been shown in China and some other countries like- North Korea, New Zealand, Vietnam, etc. For people, living in or visiting those areas which are known as COVID-19 hotspot has the risk of catching this virus is higher. Governments and health authorities are taking vigorous action every time when a new case of COVID-19 is identified. However various countries declared lockdown to prevent overtake the disease. People should be sure to comply with any local restrictions on travel, movement, or gatherings. Cooperating with the disease can control efforts and will reduce the risk of catching or spreading COVID-19.
There is no evidence that medicine can prevent or cure the disease. While some western and traditional home remedies may provide comfort and alleviate symptoms. It should not recommend self-medication with medicines including antibiotics as prevention to cure. However, there are some ongoing clinical trials that include both western and traditional medicines. It should be reminded that antibiotics do not work against viruses. They only work on bacterial infections. So antibiotics should not be used as a means of prevention or treatment of COVID-19. Also, there is no vaccine yet to recover. People with serious illnesses should be hospitalized. Most patients have been recovered from the disease. Possible vaccines and some specific drug treatments are under investigation. They are being tested through clinical trials.
To surpass the globally affected disease every citizen of the world should be responsible. People should maintain every rule and measure forwarded by doctors and nurses, Police, military, etc. They are trying to save every life from this pandemic and we must be thankful to them.

I am ok…been staying home for the last 8 weeks. Things are beginning to open up here (got my hair
cut this morning). Soon, most every business will be open again.
As for the virus, it is more hype than anything.
The fact is, it is no worse that the annual flu. We call it the «Wuhan Flu». Many have had it with little or no real symptoms. The people who have died are people who are ald and with other medical problems. The actual number of deaths is less than in the normal flu season.
It seems there are more than one strain of the virus. One makes you feel a bit bad for a day or two and then is gone. Another strain is more robust (such as the one in Moscow which has been a bit more deadly).

Here is what we have now.
Things have quickly escalated.
Several towns have ‘stay at home’ measures, with only ‘essential’ businesses open. Moscow doesn’t have a strict ‘stay at home’ policy yet, but all towns probably will within a few days.
People are encouraged to not go anywhere except for serious doctors appointments, buying food, gas, or other essential activities. Many beaches were still opened last week but now have been closed since people were gathering in large groups and not practicing ‘social distancing’ — staying 6 feet away from everyone else. Now we are hearing that some of the kids (in this case, ‘kids’ means college age people) who went to the beach are testing positive for the virus. I think all beaches are closed now.

Gas for cars is more expensive than it has been in several weeks. Grocery stores are staying stocked some, but a lot of items get bought very quickly and there are a lot more empty shelves than previously. Items that are difficult to find are toilet paper, paper towels, canned fruits and vegetables, milk, meat, eggs, cheese, beans, other things.
As soon as shelves are stocked, these items get bought quickly. I know 2 people so far who have tested positive for the virus, but the both seem to be doing okay. This is probably the biggest event of my lifetime as it pertains to affecting the behavior of everyone in the country, and in most of the world.

Very few people here wear gloves. We’ve been told they don’t help, but can make the virus spread more. I don’t think anyone really knows what’s going on with it.I have two friends who had it, but they are fine now.

We have been asked to wear a mask whenever we go anywhere, and in some cities and businesses that are opened it is mandatory.
I don’t watch the news very much — it seems like they are saying the same things over and over.

I heard that the US is having panic reactions to the corona virus. I thought the government was over-reacting, now I’m not as sure, but some of the measures are extreme. Flights to Europe have all been banned for a few weeks. Some towns have different measures in place. In my town, we cannot gather in groups of more than 25 people for any reason, so church services will either be cancelled or only a few people will be able to attend.
Everyone is supposed to stand at least 6 feet apart whenever possible for ‘social distancing.’ Everyone who can work from home is doing so. In my town, restaurants can only serve food ‘to go’ or in drive-through lanes — you cannot go inside any restaurant to eat. Some states have shut down all restaurants. All schools in my state are closed for 3 weeks, maybe longer. All sporting events have been cancelled or postponed.
The regulations are making life very hard for millions of people. Many or most people live paycheck-to-paycheck and can’t afford to suddenly be off from work.
It is true that many stores keep running out of toilet paper, paper towels, and some kinds of food. People are buying more than they need out of panic.

Во многих магазинах не хватает туалетной бумаги, бумажных полотенец и некоторых видов продуктов питания. Люди покупают больше, чем им нужно из-за паники.
