A wonderful film
Ms Lee really attempted to do a version of the Tales that would merit some consideration. Frankly when one considers the budget restraints this is quite a remarkable achievement.
Some scenes go on for too long and others are far too short, e.g Colleen Brennan’s scene with Hyapatia is scorchingly hot and yet much too short for full expression of mood.
The sets and the costumes are pretty well done for a low budget film and there is some nice writing involved also.
This is a very cute film and if one comes to it with an open mind and heart one should be well rewarded.
I just adore this film.

Good for couples
Hypatia Lee’s adaption of Chaucer’s classic tale is an excellent film for those wishing to find an adult film that both sexes can enjoy. Obviously the film has a plot — to explore the raunchy details left out by the original literary author. Most of the «encounters» fall into the conventional category, so there is nothing much to possibly offend less open-minded viewers. A winning film for couples.

Not bad for its age
An above-average porn film that actually has a working plot, and cohesive story, while still having good sex scenes. I think the miller/miller’s wife and student dinner was a great erotic scene with nobody losing their clothes. I’d first seen this video when it was (nearly) new and even then, at an age to just want raunchy sex video’s I thought this was an enjoyable film. That there is a story to watch, and scenes that both I and my wife can enjoy makes this a high-point for this genre. If you have a good physical relationship going on, this makes for a good «date night» film to have everyone in the mood. Give it a watch, but if you plan to buy, make sure you find a good copy as many of the old ones have lousy sound tracks.

Funny Adult Picture with Great Cast

A group of people are traveling to Canterbury and along the way they decide to play a game to see who can tell the most erotic story. From here they tell and we see these sexual stories play out.
THE RIBALD TALES OF CANTERBURY is a well-made, lavishly produced adult film from writer-star Hypathia Lee and it was directed by her husband Bud. If you’re looking for a strong adaptation of the various Canterbury stories then you might be disappointed but if you’re just a fan of the genre then I have a hard time believing that you’re going to be disappointed with what you get here.
It’s rare whenever the sex and nudity isn’t the strongest point of an adult film but what impressed me the most here were the wonderful costumes, set design and even the cast members were all on the right mark. I was really surprised at how good the performances were because this here is basically a comedy and the film goes for a lot of laughs and I thought the comic timing by the majority of the cast was right on and made for a very fun film.
Of course, you have to talk about the actual sex scenes and for the most part I thought they were strong. The highlight of the film has to come towards the end when a mother hears her daughter taking on a couple guys so she goes to get some for herself.

Delightful porn comedy romp

A group of noble men and women exchange erotic stories while traveling across the countryside en route to Canterbury. Director Bud Lee, working from a spicy and witty script written by star Hyapatia Lee, keeps the enjoyable episodic narrative moving along at a brisk pace, maintains an infectiously good-natured and lighthearted tone throughout, and elicits plenty of laughs from the amusing sense of blithely bawdy humor. The ravishing Hyapatia makes for a very charming and vibrant hostess. Moreover, there’s a gaggle of gorgeous gals to further heat things up: Voluptuous knockout Stevie Taylor, yummy Josephine Carrington, slim looker Debra Lynn, delectable Cheri Janvier, foxy brunette Beverly Bliss, delicious blonde Buffy Davis, and, best of all, busty’n’lusty longtime favorite redhead Colleen Brennan. It also helps that mighty swordsman Mike Horner, super stud Peter North, and the ever-likable Jon Martin are on hand to provide their able-bodied services. The sets and costumes are impressively lavish considering the modest budget. Guido’s bright’n’bold color cinematography gives the picture a satisfying sumptuous look. The jaunty score by Lexi Hunter and Billie Boca hits the spirited spot. A real treat.

A wonderful Porn classic

I had bought it back in 86 on VHS.I felt it was better than Passollinni’s, that it had full sex scene’s in it.They fit exactly with Hyapatia’s version of Chaucer’s classic. Now back in the forties there was a world war two theme version of this made in England too.It had focus on soldiers visiting the city .Originally Caballero control had owned it. I would later get an early DVD version,but it was defective .all five copies .I had to forget it.This was released as a part of a double feature from Vinegar Syndrome.They restored it great .They also cropped it to 16:9 ratio screen.My old one was 4:3 ratio.I learned that it was photographed for 1.85:1.So this version was correct as it was projected and cinema photographed .Although the trailer claimed it was shot in Scotland .The fact is it was shot in California with the interior shots in San Fransisco .My favorite story is how the Gypsy violin got its whine .The actor who played the devil looked like the same actor who was in devil in Ms Jones.It was not. I had thought that the actress who played Babushka was Colleen Brennan .but, it was not .It was some actress by the name of Mary Jane Forcade.I think the Friar was the same old character actor who was in Go for it. He gets his pleasure off at the near end ,but, I think it was a stunt that was used.The costumes were accurate for the time and the acting was good. The cinematography was great.Today I still don’t know where squeeze the dog is in this film.02/14/16
