An ambitious architectural project «Moscow City» (Moscow International Business Center) in the Russian capital was nicknamed «Dubai in the center of Moscow». Construction of the skyscrapers quarter has been going on since 1995. In 2016, there were already 13 towers here out of 16 scheduled ones.

The skyscrapers of the «Moscow City» house offices, business centers, residential, entertainment and shopping complexes. Tours of the «Moscow City» quarter are arranged, with visits to several viewing platforms. The highest of them is a panoramic platform at a height of 238 meters on the 58th floor of the Imperia Tower. In winter, an ice rink surrounded by a glass fence opens on the roof of the 85-storeyed skyscraper «OKO».

Moscow International Business Center, also known as Moscow-City, is a commercial district  in central Moscow located on the Presnenskaya Embankment. It consists of several grand towers built in a futuristic style. Each tower has its own distinctive design. Moscow-City is the largest real estate investment project in Moscow and in all of Russia. It is also home to the highest skyscraper in Europe. Construction is still in progress, but even though it is yet to be completed, the complex is already huge and impressive. The district embodies modern architecture and technology. In 2011, the «Moscow Tower» was listed among the top 10 most aesthetic skyscrapers in the world. The interior of its metro station is also interesting as it portrays a metro of the future.

Moscow-City is expected to become the first zone in Russia to combine business activity, living space and entertainment in one single development. There will be offices, restaurants, hotels, halls, stores, malls, galleries – in other words – a place for all kinds of business life. The transportation system is also an important part of this place. There is the beautiful pedestrian bridge over the Moscow River. A new and convenient transportation system «Moscow-City – Sheremetyevo International Airport» is expected to be completed soon. This high-speed passenger train will connect Moscow-City to Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo international airports.

The buildings can be seen from any point in the city and therefore have become an issue of debate, as some people think they destroy the historical look. However, as an international business centre, Moscow needs areas like this. Visitors to Moscow-City can see many great sights from this location. Two of the seven Stalin skyscrapers, the Radisson Royal Hotel and the main building of Moscow State University, are part of the area’s panoramic view. This combination of historical and modern styles adds to the uniqueness of the area.

When evening comes, the lights inside and outside of the towers are on, the river water is shining, reflecting all of this beauty. The office workers must work long hours, as the lights in the towers are on till very late at night.

Each tower has its own name, which makes it easy to get around. All the towers are different. The Federation Tower is the highest one and is located in the centre of the whole ensemble. It is said to be built with concrete hard enough to even withstand the impact of an airplane. The North Tower is wonderful for its panoramic elevators and atriums. It also has its own fire station. This proved to be quite important, since there has already been a fire in the  uncompleted Federation Tower (fortunately nobody was hurt). The Central core was one of the most difficult to build and consists of two sections, an above-ground and an underground. It includes a metro station and there are plans to open two more metro stations connecting to different lines of the metro. Future plans include a high-speed passenger transport system that will connect the district with the airport (see above). Evolution Tower will become a popular place for brides and grooms due to the wedding palace to be located here.

So even if you don`t have any business to do and are not looking for a job, you should come and see this magnificent architectural miracle. You will always be amazed at what you will discover.

The complex is home to the highest numbers of skyscrapers in Europe. The Government of Moscow first conceived the project in 1992, as a mixed development of office, residential, retail and entertainment facilities.[2] An estimated 250,000 – 300,000 people will be working in, living in, or visiting the complex at any given time.[1] By 2016, twelve of the twenty-three planned facilities of the MIBC were already built; seven buildings were under construction; and four were in the design stage.[3]

General descriptionEdit

HistoryEdit

Before construction began, the area was a stone quarry and industrial zone, where most of the buildings were old factories that had been closed or abandoned. A public company, CITY, was created in 1992, to oversee the initial creation and development of Moscow City as well as its subsequent usage. CITY is also a general contractor and both landlord and lessor. Overall responsibility for the architectural planning and design of Moscow City belongs to the architectural studio No. 6, which is a part of the large Moscow practice Mosproject-2 named after Mikhail Vasilyevich Posokhin. This group, headed by Gennady Lvovich Sirota, who is officially the Chief Architect of Moskva-Citi, is in charge of overseeing the design of the complex as a whole and agreeing the details of individual projects. Each building lot has its own investor and architect. By 2014, the volume of investments in Moskva-City was approximately $12 billion.[4]

ManagementEdit

Established in the spring of 1992, the PJSC City Company manages the creation and development of the MIBC. On 30 December 1994, the Government of Moscow authorized PJSC City to act as the managing company for the MIBC and to negotiate with third parties to help develop the MIBC. As of February 2014, the company was owned by the Solvers Group, led by Oleg Malis.[5][6]

TransportEdit

PedestrianEdit

The Bagration Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that goes over the Moskva River. It connects Tower 2000 and the rest of the MIBC complex.

RoadEdit

Major thoroughfares that connect to the MIBC are the Third Ring Road, 3rd Magistralnaya street, and the Presnenskaya Embankment.

To correspond with the growing MIBC, new highways and interchanges were built to connect the MIBC with the main transport arteries of the city. These projects include the ten-lane Dorogomilovsky Bridge of the Third Ring Road over the Moskva River, the Third Ring Road interchange with Kutuzovsky Avenue, and the extension of the Presnenskaya Embankment. Existing roads were reconstructed and rearranged.

Rapid transitEdit

The MIBC is served by two metro lines, and three stations, and was for a time served by a further station and line. Two of the stations are named Delovoy Tsentr (Russian for «business center»). Vystavochnaya (formerly known as Delovoy Tsentr) and Mezhdunarodnaya are on the Filyovskaya line, while Delovoy Tsentr is on the incomplete Bolshaya Koltsevaya line. The first Delovoy Tsentr was on Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line since 2014, but was closed after four years operation, pending further development of the line.

The MIBC in addition is served by the Moscow Central Circle urban rail, with a station also named Delovoy Tsentr which opened in 2016. There are also plans to install a high-speed rail system between the MIBC and Sheremetyevo International Airport.[citation needed]

AccidentsEdit

  • On 25 January 2013, a fire occurred on the 24th floor of one of the skyscrapers at the OKO complex while it was under construction.[51]
