English is very important in our life. This is an international language. Millions of people around the world in 49 countries speak English. English is the third most spoken language in the world. English is spoken in about 70 countries, so it has been given the status of an international language.

Today, parents understand the importance of the English language, so they only accept their children to a good English school.

For me, English is an opportunity to get a good job and get a job in a large international company. Currently I am actively studying English. My big passion is video games. Mostly I play games in Russian. But I often switch the game settings to English, and in this way, I try to understand the dialogue of all the characters.

A person who does not know a foreign language has to face many other problems. English has many uses. In the hospital, I was examined by the specialized doctor, and the doctor told me that there is a suspicion that you have been infected with the Corona virus (Covid-19), and some tests and x-rays must be done to confirm this matter.

I tried to be consistent, and went to the lab to do the tests and then to the x-ray room, and after I took the x-ray, I got dizzy. I fell to the ground and could not move, and the doctor and nurses rushed towards me to save me.

This day was very nice for me and made me feel that I can achieve something interesting and beautiful that makes others happy, especially that my mother asked me to photograph this drawing and published it on her own account, and it got many positive comments, all of which are encouragement and amazement.

I love this day so much and would like to learn more because of this day.

New Year is a special holiday in my family. This is the time when we all gather at a big table. A few days before New Year we put up our Christmas tree in the living room. We also decorate other rooms. We put Christmas figurines on the shelves and hang garlands around the house. All these things fill our house with special festive atmosphere.
My mum cooks something special for New Year’s dinner. We all help her. We like to follow the new trend and celebrate New Year wearing same colours as the colour of the animal in Chinese calendar. For example, when we celebrated the New Year of the Red Monkey, we wore red and orange. It is believed, that following this tradition will bring you lots of luck in the new year.
We usually watch different New Year programmes on TV on this day. When the clock on the Kremlin tower strikes midnight, we, according to the long-standing tradition, make our wishes and give each other compliments of the season. After that we exchange gifts with each other.
When I was little, I always looked forward to the coming of New Year. I am a lot older now but have the same feeling in my heart. For me, New Year is the night when air is filled with magic, this is the time of new hopes and aspirations, a feeling of easiness and joy. This is the time when I want to live, enjoy my life to the full and move forward!

New Year is the most long-awaited (долгожданный) holiday. Many people associate it with magic and gifts. First of all it is surrounded by the wonderful smell of tangerines and Christmas trees, which helps to create a festive mood (праздничное настроение). People of all ages truly (искренне) believe that in New Year their goals (цели) and wishes will come true.
New Year is an international holiday, but in every country it is celebrated in many different ways (разными способами) and each family has their own traditions. For example, in Australia, people celebrate the New Year on the beach or go on picnics with friends. In Italy, the New Year begins on January 6. Here people believe in the good fairy Befana, who gives stars and gifts for everyone. In Israel, people at on the New Year eat only sweets and avoid bitter (горький) food. In Spain on this day there is a tradition to swallow (глотать) one grape (виноград) for every time the bell chimes (звон курантов) and make a wish.
On New Year my family and I decorate the house and the Christmas tree and give each other gifts, wishing success (успех) in the New Year.
New Year’s Eve is my favorite holiday and I always look forward (ждать с нетерпением) to it.

My name is Catherine. I am fourteen years old. New Year is considered the most popular holiday in our family. At the beginning of December everybody has a festive mood. In the city the streets and shop windows are decorated with bright and motley garlands. A huge Christmas tree is put at the main square. We begin to prepare for the holiday. We buy Christmas-tree decorations, tinsel and gifts for each other at New Year’s fairs.
At the end of December we put artificial Christmas tree and decorate it for the holiday. I help my mother to prepare a festive table on December 31. New Year’s Eve always seems to me magical and unforgettable. At midnight after president’s appearance on television chiming clock begins to strike. We wish each other a happy New Year and make a wish and then exchange gifts. When I was a child I found the gifts under the Christmas tree and I thought that Santa Claus had brought them.
Although I’m already adult and I don’t believe that Santa Claus exists, on New Year’s Eve I want to find myself in the dream and to believe in a miracle.

Holidays make our life brighter and more interesting. They have different meanings and their own history. During our holidays we can have some fun and just relax. Since my childhood one of my favourite holidays has been New Year’s Day.
New Year’s Day is the best time for me to spend with my family in the magical and festive atmosphere, with delicious food. Schoolchildren love this time because it’s a great start оf their winter vacation. When I was a small child I wrote letters to Father Frost and asked him for some sweets and a toy as a present. I also painted New Year greeting cards and put them under my parents’ pillows.
We usually start getting ready for the New Year’s Day in advance: we prepare presents, buy muсh food and decorate our house and the New Year tree. We also go shopping to find some nice clothes because it’s a good tradition in our family to celebrate the New Year’s Day in new clothes.
My mother always holds a real feast: she makes lots of salads, meat dumplings, cooks chicken with vegetables and bakes fruit tarts. They all taste fantastic. We watch entertaining programmes on TV and set off firecrackers in the yard. Sometimes we go to the central square to watch colourful carnivals, concerts and fireworks. Adults also have a ten-days’ holiday and it gives them a chance to visit their relatives and friends and enjoy the time together. We also have enough time to travel, indulge in sports and other hobbies.
I really enjoy New Year’s Day and every year I look forward to celebrating it with my family.

There are many holidays in our country. They are: New Year’s Day, Christmas, Women’s Day, Victory Day, May Day and others.
I like New Year’s Day, it is my favourite holiday. The 1st of January is a winter holiday and now it is the first day of the New Year.
Peter the First changed the Russian calendar in 1699. He made the 31st of December, 1699 the last day of the year. The first of January 1700 became New Year’s Day.
The 1st of January is in the middle of winter. The weather is usually fine and there is a lot of snow everywhere. As the 1st of January is a holiday I don’t go to school and my parents don’t go to work.
We usually have got a very interesting New Year’s party at school. We have got it on the 28th or 29th of December.
Our family prepares for this holiday beforehand. My father buys and brings home a beautiful New Year’s tree at the end of December. Our family has a tradition to buy it. I like to decorate the New Year’s tree with toys, little coloured lights, sweets and a beautiful star on the top.
My mother and grandmother prepare our holiday supper and lay the table. I make a cake.
All the members of our family clean the flat before this nice holiday and then each of us try to dress well. We like to see the New Year in at home with our relatives. They come to see us at 11 o’clock in the evening.
At 12 o’clock we are sitting at the table and we are glad to see the New Year in. We say, “Best wishes for the New Year!”
I hope that next year will be better than the last one.
The New Year’s Day is always connected with our new hopes and dreams.
It is a pleasant moment to get presents on the New Year’s Eve.
I usually get many nice useful things from my parents and relatives.

We always celebrate New Year at home. A week before the holiday we begin to decorate our house with lights and garlands. We also put up a New Year tree and decorate it with balls, cones, icicles and other toys, tinsel and lights. Under the tree we usually put statuettes of Father Frost and Snow Maiden. We put New Year presents there too.
On the 31st of December we always cook salads. My mother usually roasts meat and boils potatoes. She always bakes our favourite Napoleon cake. We watch New Year programmes and films on TV.
At about ten o’clock we all sit down at the table and have a meal. Just before midnight we light sparklers and my father opens a bottle of champagne. We watch the president’s speech on TV, and then while the clock is striking midnight, we make wishes and drink champagne. After that we go to the balcony to watch fireworks.
When we come back into the room we open our presents. I usually get a lot of presents for the New Year. And I always try to give presents to my parents, grandparents and friends.

New Year is the best of holydays. At New Year’s Eve always appears this strange expectation of something big, new and great. Joyful atmosphere is all around. Everybody is busy picking nice Christmas trees, presents and feasts for holyday table. It seems like fairytale since childhood.
Preparations for this celebration are starting early. Everything begins with general cleaning. Than rooms are decorating with beautiful toys, garlands, holiday lights and candles. But most beautiful decorations are New Year and Christmas wreaths with conifer branches, bright ribbons and figures of angels.
Dishes on holyday table are always special. And the most important moment of celebration is coming of New Year with chiming clock. Last toll marks beginning of grand firework which may last for whole hour. Than all guests, relatives and friends, begin celebrations with dances and contests which last for the whole night. And first thing to do at next is to check all presents.
It is best when whether at New Year is cold and snowy. Colorful lights are flashing in all windows. Everybody is celebrating and having fun. Apparently because New Year is mutual celebration it is so much fun to celebrate it.

At this last minute of the year ended, the President of Russia congratulates all Russians on the New Coming Year. As soon as the chimes beat off the last blows, volleys of holiday fireworks and salute begin to explode from everywhere. The night sky is lit up with bright, colorful flashes. I like all holidays. But everyone of them can be made upset, except one. It’s
the New Year. New Year is a holiday for everyone. The people all over the world
welcome the new year at one moment, that’s why I think it’s the most uniting
holiday in the world, because in this moment every person can say that he loves
everyone. I think it is an international holiday.
But in different countries the New Year is celebrated in different days, for
example it can be celebrated on the 1st of September or. Also I’ve heard that
from 2001 year the New Year will be celebrated on the 1st of March by all
countries all over the world. As for me, I think that it was a right
resolution.
There are lots of New Year traditions in Russia. In every home there is a New
Year tree glittering in colored lights and decorations. Children always wait
for Father Frost to come and give them a present. Many people consider a New
Year to be a family holiday. But most of the young prefer to spend the New Year
there own having parties. As for me I prefer to see the New Year with my
family, because I meet these New Years last times with my family and after some
years I’ll spend it on my own. I must spend as much time as possible with my
family because in some years I’ll have to leave them to begin my own life and
these holidays may be the last.

Holidays are always a joyous occasion. I
love the variety of holidays such as birthdays of my friends and relatives and
of course my birthday. I also like May holidays when we usually go out with
friends or family, where we make barbecues, play games and just relax in the
first warm days. Halloween is also one of my favorite holidays, when my friends
and I throw a party for which we dress up in carnival costumes. But anyway, my
most favorite holiday is New Year’s Eve.
I love this holiday for the extraordinary magic atmosphere that it brings to
the city and in each house in it. This is the time when every town is
transformed and it looks like a Christmas card. When each house is filled with the
scent of pine, mandarins and delicious pastries. For everyone this period is
time, when one can take at least a little gift and everyone will be happier in
this holiday.
New Year is a time of hope and dreams. We are all waiting when the clock
strikes twelve times and we hope that our dreams will come true! In
anticipation of the holiday people look more hopeful for the future waiting
only the best next year.
In addition to this, the favorite part of this holiday is meeting of whole
family at a large table. Around our table there are always our close friends,
parents and their children. I love feeling this holiday, it fills my family

Holidays make our lives lively and interesting. We can have some fun, relax and don’t feel any pressure. Within the year there are a lot of holidays such as Mother’s Day, Victory Day, Christmas, May Day. Since childhood, my favorite holiday is New Year. We celebrate it on the 1st of January.

New Year’s holidays is the time for traveling and we visit our relatives in other cities too.
I really enjoy celebrating New Year’s holiday and, to my mind, every person looks forward to celebrating it with their family.

Мой отец отлично готовит, поэтому он всегда готовит пельмени, курицу с апельсинами и специальный овощной пирог. Мы с братом готовим салаты, а моя мама печет фруктовые пироги. Они просто фантастические и райские на вкус. После знаменитого ужина мы встречаемся с друзьями нашей семьи и отправляемся в центр города, чтобы посмотреть на фейерверки, концерты и красочные карнавалы. Если погода противная, мы остаемся дома, смотрим развлекательные программы по телевизору и устраиваем фейерверк во дворе. Новогодние праздники — это время для путешествий, и мы навещаем наших родственников в других городах тоже.

Young years are very important for everyone. Some people believe that youth is the most exciting time in people’s life, while others disagree with this point of view.

In my opinion, when you are young, you have the most wonderful period in your life. There are a few reasons for that. Firstly, in these years you discover the world, learn many new things and do everything for the first time. Secondly, you are full of plans and ambitions, you set your goals for the future. Moreover, in this time of life you are the bravest and the strongest.

However, there are people who support a different opinion. They claim that youth is the most dangerous period in a person’s life. They explain that at this age you can make a lot of mistakes that will affect your life in the future.

For example, when you choose your education path, you must be sure that it is interesting and suitable for you or you will regret about it years later.

Personally, I do not agree with my opponents’ opinion. If a young person has good friends and family, they will help him/her not to make these mistakes.

To sum up, although there are different opinions about youth, I still believe that it is the best time of life.

For me, English is an opportunity to get a good job and get a job in a large international company. Currently I am actively studying English. My big passion is video games. I believe that school time is an important part of everyone`s life. People spend eleven years at the school. Practically every day pupils go there and spend most part of their day at school. So the school may be considered as the second home, while teachers and classmates become a so-called second family.

Besides, school is a place, where children can not only study but also have fun. Numerous concerts, parties, sports contests as well as excursions are organized at school. I read a lot. Reading books in English helps to enlarge one’s vocabulary and enrich knowledge. I hope that one day I will be able to read my favourite books about Harry Potter in English.

I like watching films in English as well. Spoken language and written language are two completely different concepts. Every person has their own manner of speaking. Sometimes we can hear dialects which are not easy to understand.

At home I have a small collection of films in English. I have watched them several times already. Every time I watch a movie I understand more and more. I believe that watching films in English is a perfect exercise for listening comprehension.

In addition to that I love listening to music. I am so glad that now I can enjoy my favourite music and try to understand what the songs are about.

Recently I have joined an English club. This is a place where anyone who is interested in English can come. I have already made a few friends there. 

I am very happy that English has made my life so interesting!

How I celebrate the New Year

A week before the celebration, I start decorating the house. I usually carve snowflakes out of paper and paste them on the windows. I also hang garlands throughout the apartment and enjoy their glow. But the main preparation begins on December 30. Dad brings the Christmas tree and I decorate it with various toys, baubles, garlands, cones, beads and tinsels. My mother makes a big holiday table.

On New Year’s Eve, guests come to us, they bring gifts. Usually these are gifts with sweets, which I put under the tree to the other gifts. Around 8 pm on December 31, we sit down for a gala dinner and enjoy each other’s company. At 23:55, the president’s address begins, the national anthem is played, and at 00:00 we all celebrate the new year. The celebration lasts until the morning. Sometimes we go outside to start fireworks and light sparklers.

I love the New Year because it’s a fun and bright holiday that brings the whole family together. The New Year’s atmosphere is something that everyone should feel.

New year’s celebration

For me the New Year is the most favorite and long-awaited holiday, because everywhere the atmosphere of the holiday, and people are preparing for its arrival. I feel like with the new year, things are starting to get better. Every person is preparing for a holiday to celebrate the new year beautiful and happy.

Firstly, in anticipation of the holiday, all people buy lush firs, various fruits and sweets on the table, and of course, gifts for their loved ones. On the eve of the New Year I begin to prepare for its celebration. I decorate the Christmas tree and the room with bright garlands and toys, tinsel and colorful balls. The apartment is transformed, becomes festive and even more cozy.

Secondly, on New Year usually prepare a large festive steel with a huge variety of dishes. And of course, no holiday table is complete without Olivier salad and tangerine. Friends and family visit each other and have fun together. Near midnight, people go outside, set off fireworks and admire the beautiful fireworks.

To conclude, congratulations, delight and joy from the arrival of the New Year are heard everywhere.  And this means that the new year will be even better than the previous one.

A few days before the holidays in kindergartens and schools are held matinees, and in the offices – corporatives, so that everyone can feel the coming magical atmosphere.

Moreover, on New Year’s Eve, all people carefully prepare for its onset. They dress beautifully, prepare a lush table with a variety of traditional dishes, including olive salad, cold, and prepare each other gifts to please their relatives and loved ones. Furthermore, if there are children in the house, Russian Father Christmas and his granddaughter Snow Maiden will come to them. In order to get a gift from them is not enough just to tell a poem, you need to behave for a year. There is another wonderful New Year tradition, which is that a few minutes before the battle of the clock all people write their wishes on small papers, and then burn them, and the ashes are showered in a glass of champagne, which is then emptied to the bottom. Обще­из­вест­но, что Новый год в Рос­сии явля­ет­ся одним из глав­ных госу­дар­ствен­ных и семей­ных празд­ни­ков. Почти все люди отме­ча­ют Новый год в ночь с 31 декаб­ря на 1 янва­ря. Кро­ме того, каж­дый име­ет пра­во на 10 выход­ных дней, что­бы наве­стить сво­их род­ствен­ни­ков и дру­зей, про­ве­сти вре­мя с семьей или поехать на отдых. Для нача­ла оче­вид­но, что новый год – самый яркий празд­ник года, поэто­му люди очень вни­ма­тель­ны к укра­ше­нию сво­их домов на ново­год­ние празд­ни­ки. Для неко­то­рых людей доста­точ­но иметь на окне искус­ствен­ную или живую рож­де­ствен­скую елку, укра­шен­ную без­де­луш­ка­ми, кону­са­ми, мишу­рой и дру­ги­ми укра­ше­ни­я­ми и гир­лян­да­ми. В то вре­мя как дру­гие пред­по­чи­та­ют пре­вра­щать свои дома в сказ­ки и заим­ство­вать идеи с запа­да: деко­ра­тив­ные оле­ни, чул­ки на камине, укра­ше­ния из гир­лянд и мно­гое дру­гое. И все же укра­ше­ние каса­ет­ся не толь­ко дома, но и офи­са, клас­са, обще­ствен­ных заве­де­ний и тор­го­вых цен­тров. Новый год — это празд­ник не на один день. За несколь­ко дней до празд­ни­ков в дет­ских садах и шко­лах про­во­дят­ся утрен­ни­ки, а в офи­сах – кор­по­ра­ти­вы, что­бы каж­дый мог почув­ство­вать насту­па­ю­щую вол­шеб­ную атмосферу.

Более того, в ново­год­нюю ночь все люди тща­тель­но гото­вят­ся к его наступ­ле­нию. Они кра­си­во оде­ва­ют­ся, гото­вят пыш­ный стол с раз­но­об­раз­ны­ми тра­ди­ци­он­ны­ми блю­да­ми, вклю­чая олив­ко­вый салат, холод­ные, и гото­вят друг дру­гу подар­ки, что­бы уго­дить сво­им род­ствен­ни­кам и близ­ким. Кро­ме того, если в доме будут дети, к ним при­дут рус­ский Дед Мороз и его внуч­ка Сне­гу­роч­ка. Что­бы полу­чить пода­рок от них недо­ста­точ­но про­сто рас­ска­зать сти­хо­тво­ре­ние, нуж­но вести себя в тече­ние года. Есть еще одна заме­ча­тель­ная ново­год­няя тра­ди­ция, кото­рая заклю­ча­ет­ся в том, что за несколь­ко минут до бит­вы часов все люди пишут свои поже­ла­ния на малень­ких бумаж­ках, а затем сжи­га­ют их, а пепел осы­па­ют в бокал шам­пан­ско­го, кото­рый затем выли­ва­ет­ся на дно. Если ты сде­ла­ешь это пра­виль­но, твое жела­ние исполнится.

В заклю­че­ние я абсо­лют­но уве­рен, что о тра­ди­ци­он­ном празд­но­ва­нии ново­го года в Рос­сии мож­но рас­ска­зать гораз­до боль­ше инте­рес­но­го. В любом слу­чае, этот празд­ник оли­це­тво­ря­ет все хоро­шее и вол­шеб­ство, ведь в ново­год­нюю ночь все меч­ты сбываются.
